Create an egg carton butterfly garden that lights up in the dark with this printable craft template. This is a fun kids' craft for spring, and summer or to support learning about insects or minibeasts.
Note: This craft requires additional materials, see below for details
The light-up feature is optional. You can also make this as a decorative garden craft with screwballs of tissue paper in place of tealights.
The template includes a colour-your-own-line art version as well as the full-colour version as pictured.
It's recommended for ages 6+, although younger kids could make it with some adult help.

• Recycled egg carton base
• 6 LED tealight candles (optional)
• 2 green pipe cleaners
• Green Acrylic paint
• Tissue paper in green and yellow
• 6 Elastic bands
• Glue stick
• Blu-tak (optional)

I had such a great experience with the Egg Carton Butterfly Garden! It was incredibly easy to download, print, and start using right away—no hassle at all. The instructions were clear, and everything came together nicely.
We actually used it for an insect project for my son’s Pre-K class, and it was perfect for that purpose.
